Call Her Sacagawea (with a hard G) - Revised!

ree

Not this ”her”, this is the Song our ship at dock in Richland, WA where we went to the Sacajawea State park

ree

where we were taught how to properly pronounce the name of the Indian woman that accompanied the Corps of Discovery from St Louis to this location. We also learned…

The local Indians subsisted primarily on salmon

They lived in huts constructed from river reeds tied together using “strings” of bark stripped from bushes that grow along the bank of the Snake and Columbia rivers.

Lewis and Clark used trinkets to purchase dogs to eat until they reached the Pacific ocean

And I learned that the Cruise from Saint Paul to New Orleans is no longer scheduled and the New Orleans to Saint Pal cruise with a substantial reduction in price if scheduled while I am on this cruise is upward of $25 K and way beyond my price range. (I may rethink the Morocco cruise, assuming it is still affordable.)

My accomplishment for the day was a nice nap. Oh well, time for dinner so I will close for the day.

ABOUT TOMORROW

From 10:00 PM tonight until 6:00 PM tomorrow we will be cruising on the river, but as you can see from Ship To Shore, our daily schedule there are several things planned to keep us occupied.
