So The Adventure Begins

DFW Airport Terminal E 6:55 AM May 19, 2023

I got through TSA and only forgot my belt, both before and after the scan.Fortunatley the man behind me in line catches me at the gate and I am able to retrieve it. 😮‍💨 the flight from DFW to Salt Lake City is routine.

When we arrive at Salt Lake City,

I have been envisioning a long gallop from one end of a terminal to the other, and maybe to even another terminal to get to my departure gate, instead, I walk out of the arrivals gate straight it go straight ahead, 30 feet sit down in front of the departure gate

Deposit my bags and ask the woman sitting next to me if she would be so kind as to watch them while I go to the men’s room. . on my return from the men’s room, and on a hunch, I ask if she and her husband are going on a river cruise that I met my first fellow travelers. Within several minutes, it has become obvious that at least half the passengers on the flight to Lewiston, Idaho are going to be on the cruise as well.

The flight to Lewiston is on a much smaller, more intimate sized, regional jet.

As we fly over the Great Salt Lake on departure, I am surprised by two things…

1. the shrinkage of the lake and

1. the dirty brown haze or smog that covers the entire area

From the ground all the way up to 10,000 feet limiting visibility to less than three miles and requiring an instrument approach and landing at Lewiston. No clue on th cause but it is ugly and I went through half a bottle of artificial tears because of eye irritation.

It is dinner time so I will close for now but more later.
